Letís be honest, some of us put our hair through a lot. We have the best intentionsÖ we all just want the best for our hair. Well, the best look, anyway. But the combination of harsh weather, chemical processes, and thermal styling can really leave your hair damaged and drab. No worries, we at Misikko have a passion for hair, and we want your hair to look and feel good. So why donít we take the time to pamper our tresses? Here are some easy steps to follow to turn your drab hair to fab hair!
1. See your Stylist Ė Often
It should be no surprise that your stylist is one of the best people to help add some life back into those dead locks. If you feel like your hair is starting to look damaged, schedule an appointment with your stylist for a trim and to discuss what you can do to get your hair healthy. Count on heading in for a trim every 6-8 weeks to ward off split ends.
2. Invest in the Best Equipment
The proper professional styling tools can really make a difference in the health of our hair Ė especially the equipment we use every day. Whether itís with brushes and combs or flat irons and blow dryers, choosing high quality equipment can help keep damage low and style high. Research what styling tools would be best for your needs and your hair type, or talk to a stylist about what they recommend.
3. Donít Double up on Damaging Processes
There can be a lot of temptation to try out new looks and, unfortunately, many of them involve damaging chemical processes that can be even more harmful when mixed with other processes. So whether its coloring or retexurizing, try to just choose one at a time and save your hair the hardship.
4. Beat the Heat
Many of todayís popular styles include the use of heat styling tools. Overuse can be damaging, but new technology in flat irons, curling irons and blow dryers allow you to style hair how you want without submitting it too much heat damage. When shopping for new tools, pure 100% ceramic, ionic and tourmaline are important to look for. Instead of causing heat damage, they actually lock in moisture making your hair even healthier! Also consider using products like thermal protectant heat serum to help protect your hair from the damaging effects of styling tools.
5. Donít Go Hair Product Crazy
Hair products promise many things, but thereís no need to try out every single one. Find the proper combination and stick with it. Itís a hair myth that your hair will build immunity to a specific product due to overuse Ė just use a clarifying shampoo once a week to remove the build up and the products will go back to working like a charm!
6. Find a Color and Stick with It
Though it can be fun to try out a bunch of different styles and colors, the process of coloring your hair can be extremely damaging to your hair. Work with your stylist to find the best color/highlights for you and stick with it. Sometimes we all need a change, so donít be afraid to change your look once in a whileÖ just donít change it once a month!
