Essentials Routine - Hair For A Busy Life

This is a fast paced world, and if you're anything like me you barely have time for a ponytail before rushing out the door, much less the time to create a perfect coif each morning. So how do you keep your hair looking fresh and stylish all morning, noon, and night?

Hair For A Busy LifeThe key to perfect hair is knowing that everything you do to your hair - from washing to brushing to the products you put in it - dictates how your hair will look. Having well behaved hair is essential for quick and easy gorgeous hair.

When you shower, make sure to use the correct shampoo for your hair type. Follow up with a conditioner that works with the shampoo you are using. If you have hair that gets oily quickly, only apply the conditioner to the lower half of your hair, only conditioning roots & all about once a week.

For curly or wavy hair, squeeze out excess moisture and then apply a curl defining leave-in treatment which will eliminate frizz. Lightly scrunch hair towards the root to assist curls in forming a curl pattern, then gently put your hair into a dry towel so that it maintains volume and your curls don't fall out while drying. You can put on your makeup and get dressed, take off the towel, tousle your locks and you're good to go for a day of bouncy curls.

For straight hair, start with the right shampoo and conditioner then lightly towel-dry the hair to eliminate excess water. Apply a heat protectant while hair is wet and it will protect your hair from being damaged from high heat. You have two options: you can blow-dry your hair, or allow it to air dry while you finish getting ready.

If you decide to blow-dry, section off your hair into three or more areas using hair clips, then use a round brush and brush as you dry the hair from root to tip with the blow dryer pointed downward towards the ends. A 2000 watt dryer such as the T3 Evolution will dry your hair the fastest.

If you decide to straighten instead, allow your hair to air-dry, then section it off just as you would for blow drying. Pull sections of hair taught with a brush, following behind each stroke with a flat iron in the other hand so that you are brushing and straightening simultaneously for the smoothest glide of the iron and the quickest sleek hair you can get. A good flat iron is an investment, I recommend a GHD, FHI, or Turbolon Croc for high heat and incredible quality.

Additionally, always brush your hair before going to bed. I also like to add a little shine serum on my ends to keep my hair shiny. With just a few easy steps you can have fantastic hair even on hectic days.
